The Los Angeles anti-deportation riots are both symptomatic and emblematic of an immutable law of the Democratic Party: When it loses an election, it always moves further left, turning a bad election night into a decade of electoral defeat.
The party always responds to defeat by making things worse and becoming more radical.
It happened in 1968 after Richard Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey.
